Background:

Dr. Stevens is an Associate Professor for the College of Health Sciences, primarily teaching social sciences courses in conjunction with other collegiate duties. Since 2011, he has worked for the college in a number of roles including: General Education Program Director, and the Chair for Social Sciences and Humanities. Prior to joining the College, Dr. Stevens taught for a number of institutions including: Kansas State University as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, and Southeast Community College as a full time professor. Other work has encompassed the clinical role as a therapist and licensed mental health practitioner at the: university, private practice, state hospital, and community health levels. Dr. Stevens acquired his PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Kansas State University, his Masters in Counseling from Creighton University, and his Bachelors from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Educational development has been integral to Dr. Stevens’ life as he considers himself a life-long learner. Most important to Dr. Stevens and his wife Rebecca is that they are the proud parents of three children: Jonah, age 10, Ethan age 8, and Emmy age 5.

Notable Publications Authored/Co-author:

Prior research has been facilitated as a research collaborator in the vein of an International Research Initiative (ICR), prior membership on BCHS’s Institutional Research Board. Current research efforts are directed towards a research project that investigates faculty attitudes towards Interprofessional Education

  • Previous membership has been held as a member of the American Counseling Association and the Nebraska Counseling Association
