CPR Information
Process for obtaining CPR certification for current Bryan students.
Students can only take initial or renewal BLS for the Health Care Professional/Provider courses from the American Heart Association, Military Training Network (MTN) Resuscitation Programs or the American Red Cross. BLS for the Health Care Professional/Provider courses from other organizations will not be accepted. BLS courses that are not for the Health Care Professional/Provider will not be accepted. Examples of institutions which offer approved course are as follows: Bryan Medical Center, Mary Lanning Health, Southeast Community College, American Red Cross, and American Heart Association.
First time taking CPR certification course:
You will be required to take the live BLS Healthcare Provider course the first time you take BLS.

Renewing your CPR for Active Students:
Renewal courses must be completed online, you will not be allowed to take the live BLS Healthcare Provider Renewal or BLS Healthcare Provider courses to renew your CPR. You must renew your CPR before the end of month listed on your card as the Expiration Date in order to remain current.

Hastings location students should contact Renae Foster at Mary Lanning Healthcare to schedule BLS training; 402-461-5299. Please clearly identify that you are a Bryan student when scheduling this training.
- Go to https://elearning.heart.org
- Use the drop down options under COURSES to select BLS –Basic Life Support
- Click ADD TO CART on the HeartCode BLS course option
- Pay for and complete the online course (this may take up to two hours to complete)
- Use your Bryan Student email when creating your account
- Print out the certificate of completion
- You will need to take the survey to receive your certificate
- Schedule an appointment to complete the BLS Skills Check

- Scroll down and click on “BLS Skills Check”
- Register for one of the options provided
- Use your Bryan student e-mail when creating your account
- Fill out the form in Student Portal > My Documents > Academic Records > CPR Code Request
- Bring the certificate of completion with you to your BLS Skills Check appointment.
- You will receive an email from eCards@heart.org to claim your CPR Card
- Once you claim your CPR card you must upload it into your Student Portal

Do not let your CPR expire or you will not be allowed to participate in your clinical experiences.
Renewing your CPR card for Bryan employees:
Any Bryan employees who are also students at the College of Health Sciences
- Contact Education Services to add the BLS Certification to your transcript if you are not currently required to maintain CPR for your job
- Type in the following link for instructions to complete your CPR and sign up for a Skills Check in Catalyst
- Log into Catalyst (this can be done via the Hello website)
- Click on Resources
- Click on: CLICK HERE for how to Complete your Certifications & Load External Training
- Once you receive your CPR card you must upload it into your Student Portal
