Start your graduate studies up to a year early

Bryan College of Health Sciences (BCHS) partners with other institutions to offer you shorter pathways to advanced degrees.

Biomedical Sciences Career Pathways:

  • Physician (DO)
  • Dentist
  • Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Pharmacist
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist

Acceptance into the Biomedical Sciences program at BCHS does not guarantee admittance to any of the partner programs. Students must apply and be accepted into a given Partner Program (see below for specific information).

Physician (DO)

Partner
Kansas City University (KCU) Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Partner Program

Benefits

  • Admission to KCU DO program during your sophomore year at Bryan, no MCAT required!
  • Decrease total time to earn your Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degrees by one year

Application Timeline

  1. Submit Partner Program application in fall of your sophomore year at BCHS
  2. Interview the following spring
  3. If selected, complete your junior year at Bryan then start your DO program at KCU the following year
  4. You will earn your Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences after completing first year of DO coursework

High School Requirements

  • ACT of 24 required
  • High school community service and activities also considered

Bryan College of Health Sciences Requirements

  • Must maintain overall 3.25 GPA and 3.5 Science GPA at Bryan
  • Freshman year academic performance, community service, and college activities are also considered as part of the application process for DO School

Transfer Credit Implications
You must complete at least 90 hours of coursework at Bryan before you can enter the DO program at KCU

Dentist

Benefits

  • Admission to KCU dental program during your sophomore year at Bryan, no DAT required!
  • Decrease total time to earn your Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Medicine degrees by one year

Application Timeline

  1. Submit Partner Program application in fall of your sophomore year at BCHS

Benefits

  • Guaranteed PA interview!
  • Up to 5 Bryan students admitted to Union College's PA program. Must score interview and application at or above the benchmark.

Application Timeline

  1. Complete Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences with Bryan.
  2. Apply to the Union College PA program during your final year at Bryan.

High School Requirements

  • None

Bryan College of Health Sciences Requirements

  • Cumulative and science GPA of 3.5 or higher

Transfer Credit Implications

Students must complete at least 85 hours at Bryan in order to be eligible. This includes all 200 or above BIOS/CHEM classes.

Pharmacist

University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Early Assurance Program

Benefits

  • Decrease your total time to earn your bachelor's and pharmacy degrees by 1 year
  • Earn early admittance to PharmD program at UNMC as a high school student and/or current Bryan student

Application Timeline

  1. Apply as early as your senior year of high school.
  2. Complete 90 credit hours with BCHS (3 years)
  3. Enter the UNMC PharmD program.
  4. You will earn your BS in Biomedical Sciences from BCHS after successfully completing the first year of PharmD coursework

High School Requirements

  • Must complete PharmD Early Assurance application (including 3 letters of recommendation) as a high school senior
  • Minimum 3.25 high school cumulative GPA and 3.5 science/math GPA

Bryan College of Health Sciences Requirements

  • If applying as a current Bryan student, you must complete an Early Assurance application and have 3 letters of recommendation.

Transfer Credit Implications

Must complete 3 years of full-time coursework at Bryan

Medical Laboratory Scientist

University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Program

Benefits

  • Earn 2 bachelor's degrees in 4 years!
    • Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences or Healthcare Studies from Bryan
    • Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from UNMC

Application Timeline

  1. Complete pre-req coursework with Bryan (3 years).
  2. Complete 1 year at UNMC. Both degrees would be awarded after 1 year at UNMC has been completed.
