Complaint Process for Students Residing in SARA Locations

The Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education (CCPE) handles complaints about Bryan College of Health Sciences from students who are Nebraska residents. The CCPE is also the designated State Portal Agency for complaints about the College from distance learning students residing in U.S. states, districts, or territories that are members of the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). As of July 2019, 49 states (all but California), the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands have joined SARA.

Students who live in Nebraska or a SARA-participating location should take the following steps to initiate complaints pursuant to SARA policy:

  1. Follow the Bryan College of Health Sciences formal complaints policy.
  2. If the complaint cannot be resolved at the College, file a complaint with the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education. Please note that the Commission cannot, by law, review complaints related to course grades, academic sanctions, or discipline/conduct matters.

The Nebraska CCPE will have the final authority on complaints arising under SARA. The CCPE will notify the State Portal Entity where the student is located and will work to resolve the issue. Alternatively, the student may submit their complaint through their home SARA State Portal Entity to work with Nebraska SARA State Portal Entity. For additional information on SARA State Agencies, please visit Student Complaint Information by State and Agency.
